The acclaimed developer hasn't confirmed any additional VR titles beyond GTA: San Andreas, but Rockstar seems to be investing in VR. Why Grand Theft Auto 5 On VR After San Andreas Seems Likely San Andreas will be the first full-blown VR game from Rockstar and there's a possibility it could lead into a VR version of GTA 5. The VR version included a handful of cases built specifically for VR, acting as a bit of a tech demo for a potential Rockstar VR game. Rockstar has already taken a crack at VR once before with a scaled-back version of LA Noire. A lot of groundwork has already been done to bring it to life and while there's still plenty of work to be done to finish the job, it seems like a safer bet than a nearly 20-year-old game. After all, Grand Theft Auto 5 already has a first-person mode with fleshed-out car interiors, animations, models, and so forth. That said, San Andreas is an interesting pick for Rockstar's first GTA VR game. There's no word on when it will release, but it seems safe to say it will probably come out sometime in 2022 or 2023.

I won't say more, but just approach the game with an open mind about coming at the whole "AC game tropes" thing from a different, outsider perspective. He takes the long way around to get there, which is why many would argue this isn't really an AC game - because Edward spends much of it on the outskirts, pirating and brushing up against both Assassin and Templar forces, without getting too involved. Its gameplay is largely intact, although confined to smaller island areas between ship voyages.
It is still an AC game, despite what the haters say. Not to spoil too much, but you spend much of the first half of the game running around and being a pirate. People are so used to the protagonist joining the Assassins in the opening few sequences, but Edward simply kills an assassin and steals the uniform. This is because of Edward Kenway's character arc and the slow path they set him on in this game. Many people were mad with the game back in the day because it's more like a pirate game than an Assassin's Creed game.
